Bitter Orange Peel Ribbons - 1KG
The peel of the orange fruit is highly useful across multiple applications. It’s a popular botanical ingredient for gins where it adds a zesty touch to drinks, it’s also found in jams, drinks and orange-flavoured products.
It can be used to great effect in
various European beer styles, including Belgian Witbier. Bitter orange
peel, also often called curaçao orange peel, is an important ingredient
in the liqueur of the same name. Brewers mainly use it in Witbiers, but
you might also use it in Blonds or Tripels. Also very interesting in a
stout. Add at the end of the boil.
Orange peel will add a zesty citrus punch to gin and other flavoured spirits.

More about orange peels
Dried orange peel comes almost exclusively from southern Spain. Sourcing of both the sweet and bitter orange has seen an increase in demand in recent years, of which the majority can be put down to the success of the Gin trade. The harvest of bitter oranges is on a much smaller scale, mainly due to the smaller demand levels and the significant difference in flavour profile between the two. Following the fruit harvest (for fresh fruit and juice), collectors can hand-select any fruit that remains on the trees. These fruits are then hand-peeled, with the ribbons left to dry naturally in the Mediterranean sun. Harvest usually occurs once a year between January and April, before the lemon peels.Delivery from Get Er Brewed
