The collaboration series is working with our Irish craft brewery customers to provide marketing support and showcase quality brewing ingredients.
Who are Lacada Brewery?
Lacada Brewery is a cooperative Irish Craft brewery located in Portrush on the world-famous North Coast of Ireland. Lacada is a community-owned brewery founded by our friend Laurie Davis. His vision to create a local brewery came to fruition in 2015. They have had an incredible journey to get to where they are today and have picked up a lot of awards along the way. Laurie and his son Jack started as eager and experimental Homebrewers. That passion for home brewing has evolved into a professional brewery. Many co-workers contributed to recipe development and created some delicious beers.
What was the focus of the collaboration?
Laurie wanted to explore what could be achieved when dry hopping with the new lupulin-enhanced hop pellets LUPOMAX and the new advanced liquid dry hop Spectrum.
The brewhouse at Lacada is limited to leaf hops in the kettle. We have been working with them on exploring using incognito in the whirlpool to achieve that punchy, fruit-forward, hoppy flavour. Part of what we wanted to capture in the video of the brewery was just how hard the team work at Lacada. Their brewing system is labour-intensive and requires great craft and skill to get the most out of it. The area the brewery is based in isn’t without its challenges, as it’s a tourist location, and the water profile changes dramatically depending on the time of year. The brewery team have recently benefitted from the addition of an RO (Reverse Osmosis) system.
Geterbrewed also recently assisted with upgrading their fermentation tanks. We installed two large pharmaceutical-grade Brewiks cylindrical Cylindrical Pressurised Fermenters. The installation of these tanks allowed Lacada to package under pressure and change the packaging format to predominantly cans. The Irish Craft beer scene is seeing a demand change from bottles to cans in some areas.
