The Grainfather have given their brand a refresh. A new look, and in doing so they have re structured their products into S Series & G Series . The rebrand is to bring about a consistent brand offering two very different levels. Simply broken into a connected and non connected experience.
So what is the G Series?
The premium range that includes full connectivity (a connected experience) High quality materials, fully featured equipment
So what is the S Series?
The budget friendly GF option that allows you to enjoy the support of the GF brand. A non connected experience that is cost effective and no nonsense brewing range . Still reliable and boasting the GF build quality
The New Grainfather G40 All In One Brewing System
The new product that is exciting is the G40. A cool size as is already proven (with success of the Beacon Brewster 40 & Brewmonk). The grain basket is a cool upgrade as its much easier to clean & simpler to set up. This is a major change as there is no recirculation pipework to get in the way.
The bottom plate can be removed and the body of the basket has perforations in the stainless steel basket running vertically up the basket. Plus when you remove the bottom plate of the basket there is still a filter plate in the bottom. There is a 90 degree bend recirculation port that sits on the grain bed for recirculation. With the G40 having the same size pump as the G70 you’re not going to have any pump issues. The connective controller on the g40 is mounted at an angle, to make it easier to view and reach to control
The G40 has PID heating with great control allowing for excellent efficiency. The CIP system will also save you time on your brewday. The integrated sight glass is now included in the recirculation arm. If you’re familiar with the original Grainfather G30 you will be glad to hear there is no silicon O ring around the plate, this has been replaced by a nice chunky filter plate in the bottom of the mash basket. Plus plus the same 3 year warranty with all G Series equipment

The New Grainfather S Series S40
A slightly different build than the G40 , a cost effective 40 litre system , easy to use controller, good quality build. It doesn’t have the PID control of the g40. The s40 does have built in pump and recirculation arm similar to the G30, that comes over the top of the unit. The s40 includes a SS immersion chiller , not quite as efficient as the counter flow chiller but works . It does have a dual element (1000 & 1300 ) 2300w as apposed to the g40 that has 3150w. The s40 model is slightly taller than the G40.
The S40 has a recirculation arm similar to the G30. At the end of the silicon tube they have added a little plastic dispenser to separate across the grain bed. The s40 is a solid mash basket without the ability to remove the bottom plate like in the G40. The grain basket also has horizontal perforations in the basket as opposed to the extra vertical perforations in the G40. The grain basket has a simple integrated handle
