Hop pellets are used for efficient bittering, and creating different flavours and aromas depending on the type of hops used.
Because of our contacts with hop growers and suppliers, Get Er Brewed can reliably provide breweries and home brewers with premium hops to ensure you get the most sought-after hops for your beer. We pride ourselves on being responsive to your needs and demands in line with market availability, ensuring we receive only the best hops for brewing. Then we pass that quality and unique availability on to you.
What are Hop Pellets?
Hop pellets are whole, dried hops that are compressed into small pellets. They are used to add bitterness, flavour, and aroma to beer, and are an efficient way of utilising hops within a brew as they are easy to store, take up less space, and make less of a mess of your equipment.
Hop pellets are created by grinding the hop cones into a fine powder in a hammer mill. The powder is then pressed and forced through an extruder, turning them into hard pellets.
Types of hop pellets
There are a few types of hop pellet to choose from. Depending on what style of beer you are brewing, and the results you are looking for, it’s important to choose hop pellets that align with the flavours and aromas you want.
T90 Pellets
T90 pellets contain more than 90% of the non-resinous elements within the hop—this means almost all of the vegetable matter from the hop cones is still present in the pellet. These pellets give a more “natural” or “whole hop” flavour, thanks to the inclusion of most of the hop cone as well as the lupulin inside.
T45 Pellets
T45 pellets have 45% of the hop cones’ vegetative matter remaining, meaning that a much larger percentage of the pellet is the aromatic and flavour-filled lupulin resin compared to T90 pellets. T45s are milled at sub-zero temperatures to retain as much flavour and aroma as possible, and are QC checked, foil packaged, and nitro flushed by us.
Enhanced Pellets
Enhanced pellets are hops that are processed in any number of specialised ways. The process used will generally enhance flavours and aromas, and some will work to be more efficient when brewing. Common name brands are Lupulin Pellet, BBC, Lupomax, and Cryo Hops.
We have a huge range of sought-after hops from around the globe in pellet form:

Advantages of using hop pellets for brewing beer
For
homebrewing, hop pellets have many advantages over whole hops. Hop
pellets are the perfect solution for adding bitterness, flavour and
aroma to your beer without the hassle of dealing with whole hops.
Here are just some of the benefits of using hop pellets for home brewing, according to our professional brewers:
- Easier to Measure: One of the significant benefits of using hop pellets is that they are much easier to measure than whole hops. This makes them more reliable when you need to achieve a consistent bitterness or hop flavour in your beer.
- Better Longevity: Hop pellets have a much longer shelf life than whole hops so you can store them for extended periods. This allows you to bulk buy hop pellets for better value and future brews, and not worry about freshness.
- Increased Solubility: Pellets are much more soluble in wort than whole hops, meaning that more hop oils will be released into the wort, giving you more intense flavours and aromas in the final beer.
- More Consistent Results: Because hop pellets are much more consistent than whole hops, you can get the same results batch after batch, making your beers more predictable and consistent.
- Greater Efficiency: Because hop pellets are more concentrated than whole hops, you can get more bitterness or flavour. This means you can use fewer hops and save money in the long run.
- More Varieties: Because of their smaller size and longer shelf life, hops are easier to transport. This means we can get hop pellets from all over the world, giving us more options for flavours and aromas.
