Montepulciano wine is a medium-bodied red wine made from

Montepulciano wine grapes. This thick-skinned red grape is a cousin of the Sangiovese grape and comes from the Tuscan town of Montepulciano.

Montepulciano is the 2nd most planted red grape in Italy (after Sangiovese) and has a reputation for "pizza-friendly" red wines. Several producers have shown this grape's incredible potential by producing inky, black-fruit-driven, chocolatey wines best enjoyed after four or more years of ageing.

Ideal with homemade lasagna, pizza and other Italian dishes. Barbecue, grilled red and white meat or vegetables. Montepulciano will cut through rich meats (like brisket) and pair nicely with roasted winter vegetables.
